Pain in the ass to work out whether you are getting surround or 2 channel interleaved.

The problem is the Z-5500's then mix the 2 stream into a virtual 5 stream with Dolby Pro Logix II. I spent a lot of time reading about this recently. It runs fine for some games, not for most. Maybe just keep the xonar until you get the mobo, test it out make sure it works and if it does sell the xonar then? i also have the logitech z-5500 which may make a difference. and i ahve gotten 5.1 in games using my onboard raeltek sound on my ds3l gigabyte mobo fine for the one day i didn't have an xfi in it (one died, waited for a new one to come) using optical because i was too lazy to plug in three analog cables. What really? that's the point of optical though, it sends the raw feed to the speakers to do all the work unless you tell it to do the encoding otherwise (with my xfi anyways, not entirely sure how the realtek's do it). If you want surround out you need to use the 3pin 3.5mm Jack cables. It runs fine, but in games I never get surround out through the speakers. I have my onboard encoding to DTS on the way through. You would be much better off sticking with your Xonar which will do the encoding properly.

Most recently, I’ve noticed that Realtek HD Audio Manager is no longer present. I was able to get the optical output to output a signal that the EarForce DSS picked up as Dolby Digital by setting the default format to Dolby Digital Live (5.1 Surround) Opened Regedit and created a new DWORD (32-bit) in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Audio named DisableProtectedAudioDG and set it to 1.Īfter restarting the machine, new options became available in the Realtek HD Audio Manager under Digital Output: Dolby Home Theater & Dolby / DTS.

Here’s the discussion about this topic on TechPowerUp’s community forums: /forums/threads/unlocked-realtek-hd-audio-drivers-with-dolby-digital-live-and-dts-interactive.193148/ĭownload Realtek High Definition Audio – Unlocked Drivers – Windows 7 – R2.75 – A1 from Unlocked Realtek HD Audio Drivers (With Dolby Digital Live and DTS Interactive)ĭownload Realtek High Definition Audio codecs from Realtek website ( R2.79, current at time of writing) Integrated audio is implemented with the ac97 codec on the motherboard, a communications and networking riser cnr card, or an audio/modem riser amr card. I was able to accomplish this through the use of unlocked Realtek drivers.

Work on the new audio format started in 1991, four years after Dolby. I moved to use the Turtle Beach EarForce DSS with my workstation computer, which features an optical audio output from the motherboard, powered by Realtek. (originally Digital Theater Systems) is an American company that makes. Try as I might, there was no easy way to get party chat sounds to play through the Xbox One’s optical output, a limitation that didn’t exist with previous generations of the Xbox. Its service life there was limited, however, because it didn’t play nicely with my headset configuration. Its performance and functionality meet Microsoft Windows Vista (WLP 3.08) premium requirements. When I acquired the Turtle Beach EarForce DSS, it saw duty with the Xbox One, where I encountered no difficulty configuring the optical output to Dolby Digital. The ALC662 is a 5.1 Channel High Definition Audio Codec designed for Windows Vista desktop and mobile PCs.
