Maybe just keep the xonar until you get the mobo, test it out make sure it works and if it does sell the xonar then? i also have the logitech z-5500 which may make a difference. and i ahve gotten 5.1 in games using my onboard raeltek sound on my ds3l gigabyte mobo fine for the one day i didn't have an xfi in it (one died, waited for a new one to come) using optical because i was too lazy to plug in three analog cables. What really? that's the point of optical though, it sends the raw feed to the speakers to do all the work unless you tell it to do the encoding otherwise (with my xfi anyways, not entirely sure how the realtek's do it). If you want surround out you need to use the 3pin 3.5mm Jack cables. It runs fine, but in games I never get surround out through the speakers. I have my onboard encoding to DTS on the way through. You would be much better off sticking with your Xonar which will do the encoding properly.
